The nationally ranked #5 Bates College Field Hockey team broke another program record on Saturday. The Bobcats, already off to their best start in the NESCAC, is now also off to their best start overall after a 2-1 league win over #7 Williams in Lewiston.
Brooke Moloney-Kolenberg opened the scoring in the game with a goal halfway though the second quarter on an assist from Elena Agosti to make it 1-0 Bobcats. The Ephs (6-3, 4-2 NESCAC) tied it on a tally from Kiki Higgins near the end of the third. Rose Gordon won it for Bates with her first of the season unassisted off a penalty corner with 8:32 remaining to play. Ava Donohue made five saves in the cage, as her team now improves to 9-0 and 5-0 in the conference. The Bobcats now have five wins over top 20 teams on the season, including the last four over teams in the top 15. Bates faces another tough test when they take on #10 Hamilton for more NESCAC action on Sunday in Lewiston at 11 a.m.
