The #1 Wisconsin Badgers scored three times in the second period on Saturday afternoon at the Kohl Center in Madison, as the defending national champions finished off a two game non-conference sweep over Maine women’s hockey 5-0.
Laney Potter led Wisconsin with two goals, while Kelly Gorbatenko had a goal and an assist as the Badgers improved to 4-0. Laila Edwards and Marianne Picard each added two assists. Stephanie Jacob led the Maine skaters with three shots on goal, as they were outshot in the contest 54-16. Kiia Lahtinen made 49 saves in the loss, a day after her 46 saves in the defeat on Friday night. The Black Bears (0-4) open up the home schedule and play the first game at the newly renovated Alfond Arena prior to the men’s regular season opener next Friday when they take on Saint Anselm at 2 p.m.
