Maine Women’s Cross Country wins America East Championship

For the first time in program history, the University of Maine Women’s Cross Country Team has won the America East Championship.

The Black Bears edged Bryant University by two points at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in New Hampshire in the 5k conference final on Friday. Helen Shearer (Hampden Academy) paced Maine with a sixth place finish at 17:42.20. Ruby Krasnow was seventh at 17:44.46, and Megan Randall (Bangor High) placed eighth at 17:48.11. Veselja Treacy topped out in 11th at 17:53.62.

Adam Ward of Maine was also named America East Womens Cross Country Coach of the Year prior to the race. The Black Bears now advance to compete in the Northeast Regionals in Hopkinton on Friday, November 14th with a time to be announced.
