Saige Evans (Old Town) recorded a double-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals to lead Husson to an 89-74 season opening women’s basketball win over St. Joes on Saturday night.
Evans went 7-13 from the field and 5-6 from the free throw line. Laela Martinez (Bangor) had 17 points and six assists. Lilly Roy (Wisdom) also had a double-double and filled up the stat sheet with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. Danielle Dow (MCI) and Sophia Carnes added 11 points each. Jade Johnson chipped in with eight points, while Abby Radel (Ellsworth) recorded seven points, four assists, and two steals.
Maddie Russell (Southern Aroostook) scored a team high 17 points and added four rebounds, three assists, and three steals for St. Joes. Madison Lebel (Hermon) had a big game with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Logan Brown (Brunswick) had 12 points, six steals, five rebounds, and three assists.
