Brown University crushes Maine women’s basketball in non-conference action

Some cold shooting by Maine on Sunday afternoon sent Brown University to a 70-39 non-conference women’s basketball win at the Pizzitola Sports Center in Providence, Rhode Island.

The Black Bears shot 1-14 in the first quarter and it was never really a contest, as Brown led 21-2 after 10 minutes. The hosts would build their advantage to as many as 33 in the second half in improving their record to 3-2. Asta Blauenfeldt was the only Maine player in double figures as she had 10 points on 3-5 shooting (3-3 free throws). Grace Arnolie had a game-high 22 points and five rebounds for Brown, while Alyssa Moreland added 17 points and ripped down seven boards. The Black Bears shot 15-57 from the floor (26.3%), and 3-23 from the three-point arc (13%). Maine (1-4) will travel to New York for the Iona Turkey Tipoff to take on the University of Illinois-Chicago next Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
