Corben Trundy had seven out of the 13 points for the Deer Isle-Stoningtom Mariners against Bangor Christian. The next day he had 13 points, four rebounds, two steals, and one assist in 68-40 win over East Grand.
Trundy received 7607 votes to earn the Sports Arena male athlete of the week in one of our closest votes ever.
Hayden Hanson from Foxcroft finished only 37 votes behind at 7570 total.
Trundy joins Lily Gray (1-9-17), Myles Brown (2) (2-3-20), Rylee Eaton (2) (3-17-21), Luna Perry St. Peter (3) (2-14-22), Macey Brown (3) (1-4-23), Megan Wendell (1-30-25), Naomi Duke (5-7-25), and Jaylin Jones (1/9/26) as student/athletes from Deer Isle-Stonington that have earned athlete of the week honors.
Other nominees this week include Tobias Niranja – Fort Kent, Brady Ball- PCHS, Carter Rand- Winthrop, Kason Bua – Presque Isle, Gavin Fanjoy- Erskine, Carter Wiggin- Hermon, Jacobi Poire- Foxcroft, Jesse Booker- Bangor Christian, and Karter Eldridge – Hall Dale.
