Mickey Fitzsimmons and Liam O’Connor both scored in double figures on Thursday in leading top seed Machias to a 56-51 Class D boys basketball semifinal win over Hodgdon at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
Fitzsimmons had 18 points (four 3-pointers) and six rebounds, while O’Connor added 17. Machias will battle Madawaska in the Class D regional championship game on Saturday at 3:45 p.m. Hunter Sanford led Hodgdon had 19 points and seven rebounds, while Cyran Ciarleglio addes 13 points and nine rebounds. Cameron Hanington also chipped in 10 for the Hawks.
