Mattanawcook Academy wins first girls basketball regional title in school history

Megan House had a game-high 17 points on Saturday night, as the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx won their first girls basketball regional title in school history by knocking off Foxcroft Academy 41-22 in the Class C North Final at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

House added four steals, while Addison Cyr contributed 15 points, 13 rebounds, and three assists for the 21-0 Lynx. Mattanawcook Academy advances to the Class C state championship game next Saturday, 2/28 at the Augusta Civic Center to take on South Champion Spruce Mountain (20-1) at 7:05 p.m. Ali Cook had eight points, while Maddie Muth and Kassidy Lebel both had six points and four rebounds for Foxcroft Academy. The Ponies were playing in their fourth regional title game overall and earn the runner-up with a final record of 17-4.
