Maine men’s basketball earns America East road win over UNH

Maine scored the final six points of the game on Saturday evening at Lundholm Gymnasium in Durham, New Hampshire to pick up a 61-58 America East men’s basketball win over UNH.

Trailing 58-55 with 2:03 left, Ace Flagg converted a three-point play to tie it. After two misses by the Wildcats on the other end, a foul with 58 seconds remaining and two made free throws by Mekhi Gray of Maine ultimately led to the Black Bears fifth conference victory.

Tyler Bike had 15 points (four 3-pointers) for UNH in the loss. Belal El Shakery recorded a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Davide Poser chipped in 11 points. The Wildcats fall to 8-18 and 4-9 in America East. Gray and Logan Carey both had 16 points in the Maine win, shooting very efficiently combining to go 10-16 from the floor. Gray also had nine rebounds. Flagg registered a career-high with 15 points in 24 minutes. The Black Bears are now 7-21 and 5-8 in conference play and will be out on the road again on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. when they visit the Great Danes of Albany.
