Maine softball sweeps Merrimack

Maine softball swept Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts on Wednesday afternoon.

Game 1- Maine 8, Merrimack 0- 5 innings/mercy rule. Freshman Annika Shearer two hits and two RBI including a solo homer for the Black Bears to snap a six game losing skid. Peyton Archer also drove in two. Alysen Reith got the win in the circle allowing just three hits with four walks and eight strikeouts in the 5.0 innings.

Game 2- Maine 6, Merrimack 2. Morgan Pool and Shearer two RBI each to complete the sweep. Kaelyn Larkin four hits. Ava Zettlemoyer picked up the pitching win giving up two runs on two hits with three walks and six strikeouts in 4.0 innings of work.

Maine is now 6-15 and will play a pair of road doubleheaders next Tuesday and Wednesday at St. Peter’s and Monmouth respectively.
