Husson baseball sweeps four game conference series over UMaine-Farmington

The Husson baseball team swept a four game North Atlantic Conference series over the University of Maine-Farmington in contests that were played on Saturday and Sunday afternoon at the Winkin Complex in Bangor.

On Saturday:

Game 1 (9 innings)- Husson 10, UMF 4.

-Matt Holmes (Bangor) four hits, three RBI, and two runs scored.

-Henry Lausier (Thornton) two hits and four RBI.

-Cam Rendell three hits and one RBI.

-Noah Hurd (Mt. View) with the pitching victory in relief to improve to 3-1 on the season allowing just one run on six hits with one walk and three strikeouts in 5.0 innings

 

Game 2 (7 innings)- Husson 9, UMF 4.

-Holmes and Hunter Curtis (Ellsworth) two hits each- Holmes three RBI, Curtis two. Holmes is now hitting. 426 with 47 RBI in 31 games.

-Ben Phillips (1-0) pitched 2.0 solid innings in relief on the mound to get the win.

 

On Senior Day on Sunday:

Game 1 (7 innings)- Husson 6, UMF 2.

-Curtis game winning RBI flyout in the fifth inning.
-Colin Marshall, Preston Libby, Trevor Poisson, and Yates Emerson (Bangor) added one RBI each.
-Avery Lawrence (Deering) complete game pitching win- two runs, two hits, four walks, six strikeouts (1-4 record).

 

Game 2 (8 innings)- Husson 6, UMF 5.

-Eagles rallied from 5-1 in their last at bat to tie it with four runs, and walks it off in extras on a Emerson RBI flyout.

-The freshman Libby with a three-run triple to tie it in seventh inning- had three hits and four RBI.

-Ryan Gardner (1-0) wins it on the mound with a perfect eighth inning.

 

Husson is now 15-16 and 13-5 in the NAC. They will take on Bates and USM this week in non-conference, before finishing out the regular season and the league schedule with four games at UMPI next weekend. Photo of Preston Libby from Husson Athletics.
