The Maine Mariners got another huge road win on Friday night, this time coming from behind for a 5-4 victory over the Adirondack Thunder in Game 4 of the North Division Semifinals at Harding Mizzotti Arena in Glen Falls, New York. Maine now leads the best of seven series 3-1.
At the start it looked like it would a night dominated by Adirondack, as they grabbed a 2-0 lead on goals from Jackson van de Leest and Justin Taylor just 1:06 apart at 9:31 and 10:37 of the first period. Maine fought through the adversity and had the answer all night in this one as they tied it up on tallies from Shawn Element and Jacob Hudson at 11:55 and 13:56 respectively. Ryan Wheeler put the Thunder back ahead with five seconds left in that opening stanza, before the teams traded goals in the second period. Element got his second of the night on the powerplay that had tied the game at 3-3 at the time. Down 4-3, the Mariners knotted things up for a third time when Wyllum Deveaux buried a rebound 2:53 into the third. The winner was scored by Jacob Perreault on the powerplay assisted by Owen Gallatin and Brooklyn Kalmikov at 12:28, moving his team within one win of advancing to the North Division Finals. Brad Arvanitis made 28 saves in net in the victory, and Maine found a spark on the powerplay going 2-3. The Mariners will have that first chance to advance to the next round when Game 5 faces on Saturday night in New York at 7 p.m.
