The Maine softball team fell 3-1 to Albany on Thursday afternoon in an elimination game of the America East Tournament at the Labat Softball Complex in Orono.
Francesca Guerrera had the lone RBI with a single for the Black Bears in the top of the first inning for an early lead. Mary Kate Murray tied it in the bottom half for the Great Danes with a RBI single, and Kate Parisi had an infield hit in the second that went for a RBI to put her team ahead to stay. She added a RBI double to cap the scoring in the sixth inning. Parisi and Deanna Grahek had three hits each for #3 seed Albany, with Parisi driving in two to keep the season alive. Julia Pike (10-4) only allowed the one run on two hits in a complete game in the circle. The Great Danes (25-19) were set to face #1 Bryant in another elimination contest Thursday evening. Ava Zettlemoyer (3-10) took the pitching loss for Maine, as this ends the year for the Black Bears with eight consecutive losses and a record of 12-36 (6-16 overall vs America East opponents).
