The North Atlantic Conference Champion Husson men’s and women’s lacrosse teams had their season come to an end in NCAA First Round games this week. The men (12-5) fell at Massachusetts Maritime on Wednesday 28-17, and the women (11-5) were beaten by nationally ranked #13 Gettysburg College 26-4 on Saturday.
The Husson men’s team had won their first ever North Atlantic Conference Championship this season. The Eagles earned these postseason accolades from the league, while two players set new program records:
Senior Kiernan Field- NAC Player of the Year for a second straight season- NAC First Team Selection- New school record for points in a season with 102 (71 goals, 31 assists).
Junior Owen Giorgio- NAC Defensive Player of the Year for a second straight season- NAC First Team Selection.
Sophomore Matt Richardson- NAC First Team Selection.
Sophomore Dominic Hollenkamp, freshman Gage Robinson (Kents Hill), junior Brad Stolt- all NAC Second Team Selections.
Graduate Student Jack Kaszubinski (Wells)- NAC All- Sportsmanship Team.
Head Coach Mike O’Neill and his coaching staff- NAC Coaching Staff of the Year.
Additionally, senior goalie Odin Burk set a new program record for saves in a season with 164.
The women’s team won back to back NAC Titles, and two players set new program records while also receiving these accolades from the league:
Sophomore Kate Boehmcke- NAC Co-Player of the Year, All-Conference Selection, sets new program record for draw controls in a season with 91.
Freshman Lauren Small (Bangor)- NAC Rookie of the Year, All-Conference Selection.
Senior Averi Baker (Hall-Dale)- All-Conference Selection, new program record for points in a season with 71 (40 goals, 31 assists).
Senior Laela Martinez (Bangor)- All-Conference Selection.
Junior Jory Boyd (Nokomis)- All-Conference Selection.
