Colby softball has season ended at Rowan in the Division III Super Regionals

Colby softball had their run and historic season come to an end on Friday afternoon, falling 3-0 at Rowan University in the NCAA Division III Super Regionals in Glassboro, New Jersey. The Profs win the best of three series 2-0 and advance to the College World Series.

The Mules did have seven hits, led by Carissa Cassidy who had two but were held off the board. Ava Fisher hit a first inning two-run homerun and that is all Rowan (42-9) would need. BethAnne Doderer and Emily McCutcheon combined for the shutout in the circle, with Doderer (20-4) picking up the victory. Freshman Charlotte Stazinski (10-7) pitched 2.2 innings and took the defeat for Colby. Sophia Meade was great once again in relief in the circle despite the loss allowing no runs on one hit with no walks and two strikeouts in 4.1 innings. In her last seven outings of the season (including a 3-0 mark in the Bangor Regional), Meade pitched 24 innings giving up just two earned runs with seven walks and 17 strikeouts. The Mules, in their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance, finishes with a school record 30 wins (30-14), and became the first state of Maine softball team to win a regional.
