Houlton softball upsets Mattanawcook in Class C quarterfinals

Amelia Flewilling had a game winning RBI single in a three-run seventh inning in Lincoln on Thursday, as #7 Houlton rallied to upset #2 Mattanawcook 7-5 in a Class C softball quarterfinal.

Flewilling drove in two runs. Mylee Sylvia added two hits, including a solo homer, and scored four times. Amelya Matwyko allowed three earned runs in a complete game in the circle for the Shires (10-4), allowing seven hits while walking six and striking out 11. Vanessa Morse had two RBI for the Lynx, and also scored twice. Merin Rhodes contributed two hits. Juliana Cloukey took the pitching defeat, giving up four earned runs on six hits with five walks and 11 strikeouts in a complete game effort. Mattanawcook ends their season at 14-3.
