Bangor rallies past top seed Oxford Hills to win Class A North baseball title

A two-out sixth inning rally by Bangor on Tuesday afternoon led to three runs and culminated in a 5-2 win over Oxford Hills in the Class A North Baseball Regional Championship game played at Morton Field in Augusta.

With two outs in that sixth inning and noone on base, Kyle Johnson and Owen Glanville-True both worked walks. The Rams then hit three consecutive RBI singles by Alex Kearns, Nick Llerena, and Jonas Gilly to put them ahead to stay. The one by Llerena ended up being the game winner.

Kearns had two RBI for Bangor and Ethan Sproul scored two runs. Owen Glanville-True had one hit, one RBI, and scored one run. Johnson also had a hit and scored a run. Matt Turcotte picked up the win on the mound going the first 5.1 innings allowing one earned run on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts. Llerena was perfect in relief to get the save over the final 1.2 innings with four strikeouts. Cam Pulkkinen and Finley Cavers had one hit and one RBI each for Oxford Hills. The top seeded Vikings end their season with a record of 17-2. The Bangor Rams (16-3) will play South Champ Gorham in the state championship game on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Morton Field in Augusta.
