The Sanford Mainers have eight regular season games remaining in their New England Collegiate Baseball League season. Sanford (24-12) recently had their seven game win streak snapped, and will return to action on Tuesday with a road doubleheader at North Adams. The Mainers currently have a 3.5 game lead over Upper Valley for first place in the North Division.
The Mainers also broke a franchise record by sending 10 players to the NECBL All-Star Game. Steven Kraus (Binghamton) and Jack Tate (St . John’s) both earned starting nods, while Albert De La Rosa (UMaine), Matt Mahoney (Northeastern), Nater Wachter (UConn), Andrew Middleton (Maryland), Brian Connolly (URI), Jake Harring (Salve Regina, Div III), Dom Tozzi (Coastal Carolina), and Sam Young (Richmond) were all named as reserves. Sanford will host that All-Star Game on Sunday, July 26th at Goodall Park. The homerun derby begins at 2:30 p.m., with the game to follow at 5 p.m.
