The GSM (Greater Southern Maine) Senior Riders claimed the 2026 Maine Senior Legion Baseball State Championship on Wednesday night by defeating Trenton 7-2 in a winner take all contest played on Ronald J. St. Pierre Field at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor.
Trenton, who forced the winner take all game by defeating GSM 3-1 earlier in the evening, would hold a slim 1-0 advantage into the bottom of the fifth inning. The Senior Riders then came up with a decisive at bat by scoring five times in that frame to take control in advancing to the Northeast Regional next week. Parker Soule-Parent had a go ahead two-run double, while Donovan Harvey contributed what ended up being a game winning two-run single.
Luke Horne had two hits, while Jackson Barry and Spencer Young both had one RBI in the defeat for Trenton who ended their summer with a record of 20-5. Evan Haskell suffered the loss on the mound allowing three runs on five hits with four walks and three strikeouts in 4.1 innings. Harvey knocked in a total of three runs for GSM, while Soule-Parent provided his timely two-run hit. Noah Corliss added two hits, while Tyler Do and Parker Bjorklund would score two runs a piece. Landen Richard earned the pitching win giving up one run on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts in four innings of work. GSM (15-6) will represent the State of Maine in the double elimination Northeast Regional in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts that starts Wednesday, August 5th and runs to Sunday, August 9th.
