The Maine women’s soccer team extended their unbeaten streak to three games by battling to a 1-1 tie with Big East opponent Providence College on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, Rhode Island on Thursday evening.
Junior Isabella Meadows (transfer from UConn) scored her second goal of the season on an assist from Victoria Dungey in the 44th minute of the first half for a 1-0 Black Bears lead. Carolyn Hinkle got the equalizer for the Friars with just over seven minutes left in the match on assists from Carolyn Hinkle and Signe Tingager. Providence outshot Maine 19-5 (6-4 on goal). This is the sixth tie of the year so far for the Friars (2-0-6). Elena Barenberg made five saves for the Black Bears. Maine is now 2-3-2 (1-0-2 in their last three) and will play at Holy Cross on Sunday at 2 p.m.
