BANGOR- Springfield College rushed for 436 yards on Saturday afternoon, and thumped Husson University 48-0 in a non-conference football matchup at the Winkin Complex.
The Pride (2-0) only attempted four passes in the victory, and got all they needed when Desmond Perezcastaneda ran for a 27-yard touchdown just over three minutes into the first quarter. Stanford Davis (16 carries, 119 yards, two TDs) and Jayden Aziz (19 rushes, 88 yards, one TD) were the leading performers for Springfield College. Five different players in all scored on the ground, while Ian Wernik added two field goals. Brody Gibson went 14-29 passing for 163 yards in the loss. The Eagles only ran for 57 yards. Jacob Lenz did have four receptions for 85 yards. JT Wright had 13 total tackles to lead the defense, while Cooper McNamara had 11, and Erik Menger contributed 10. Husson (0-2) plays their final non-conference game next Saturday when they head to Massachusetts to take on Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) at 12 p.m.
