Red Sox trade Clay Buchholz

December 20, 2016

The Boston Red Sox did something on Tuesday morning that many fans have been hoping they would do.

The Red Sox traded Clay Buchholz to the Philadelphia Phillies for minor league second baseman Josh Tobias.

Buchholz was the odd man out with the Red Sox already having Chris Sale, David Price, Rick Porcello, Steven Wright, Eduardo Rodriguez, and Drew Pomeranz in the mix.

Unless another trade is made Wright, Rodriguez, and Pomeranz will most likely enter spring training battling for the final two spots in the rotation.

Pitchers and catchers report in 54 days.
