CORINTH— The Central Red Devils went on a 12-0 run in the first quarter and rolled to a 61-46 win over John Bapst on Tuesday night.
The Crusaders took their first and only lead of the game when JJ Higgins hit his second three pointer to make it 6-5. Central scored the next 12 points to take a 17-6 lead. John Bapst went on a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to 17-13. That would be as close as they would get. Central outscored the Crusaders 14-12 in the second quarter to take a 31-20 halftime lead.
Micah Ward (7) and Caleb Shaw (6) combined for 13 third quarter points as the Red Devils put the game away by outscoring John Bapst 17-7 in the quarter.
Shaw finished with a game high 23 points, including going 6-6 from the free throw line. Shaw also recorded six rebounds, five assists, and five steals. Dylan Gray recorded 11 points, 15 rebounds, and three blocks.
Ethan Mailman and Ward finished with seven points each, while Andrew Speed recorded six points, four rebounds, four steals, and three assists. James Doucette and Michael Kelley finished with four and three points respectively.
The Red Devils out rebounded John Bapst 35-24. Central (4-1) is scheduled to play at Old Town on Thursday night.
Higgins and Lakeman led the Crusaders with 12 points each. Isaac Wordwell added 10 points (nine in the fourth quarter), Noah Tomah scored six points, Darren Hanscome finished with three points and seven rebounds, Nick Galinski put in two points, while Alex Mooney made one free throw.
The Crusaders shot 11-22 from the free throw line, while the Red Devils shot 10-15 from the line. John Bapst (2-5) is scheduled to host Hermon on Thursday.
