BANGOR—-Alexsis Sprowl scored 15 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Jonesport-Beals Royelettes to a 48-32 victory over Highview Christian on Tuesday evening at Eastern Maine Community College.
Cassidy Lessner scored the first basket of the game, that would end up being the only lead for the Lady Knights. Jadah Alley scored five points in the first quarter, as the Royalettes had four different scorers in the first eight minutes and built the lead to 14-7.
Highview Christian scored the first six points of the second quarter to cut the deficit to 14-13. After Jonesport-Beals coach Roger Beal called a timeout, the Royalettes scored six straight points. Highview Christian would not get closer than six points of Jonesport-Beals the rest of the way.
Jonesport-Beals held a 22-15 lead at the half, and 34-22 advantage at the end of the third quarter.
Kaylee Ireland recorded 10 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals for the Royalettes. Lydia Alley came off the bench to get nine points, 10 rebounds, and two steals, Caitlin Childers added seven points, four rebounds, and two assists. Jadah Alley registered five points, six rebounds, and two blocks. Ivy Robinson filled up the stat sheet with two points, nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
The Royalettes out-rebounded Highview Christian 47-27, including 28-10 in the second half. Jonesport-Beals (4-4) will play at Woodland on Thursday night.
Lessner led the Lady Knights with 14 points (8-13 FT), nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Megan McDonald added 10 points, seven rebounds, and four steals, Cassidy Burns chipped in with four points and six rebounds, Brooke Trafton made a fourth quarter three pointer, while Kelsi Upham made one free throw.
The Lady Knights shot 9-15 from the free throw line, while the Royalettes shot 7-9. Highview Christian (2-7) will play at Temple Academy on Friday.
