BANGOR- The Woodland Dragons got 21 points from Lauren Cook, including six three pointers, to race past Highview Christian Academy 64-47 in girls basketball action at the UMA-Bangor Campus Saturday afternoon.
Cook started strong early with nine first quarter points, but Highview had a 10-3 lead before a 13-0 Woodland run gave the Dragons a lead they would never relinquish. Cassidy Lessner kept Highview within three after one, with six opening quarter points.
Woodland (8-3) increased the lead to 36-27 at halftime, and 51-36 after three in cruising to the win.
Cook also had three rebounds to go along with her game high in points. Shawna Monk had 16 points and eight rebounds for the Dragons out of Class C North.
For Highview (2-9), out of Class D South, Lessner led the way with 17 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Brooke Trafton had 15 points (five three pointers), four rebounds, and an assist.
Both teams return to action on Monday as Highview travels to Eastport to battle Shead at 2:30 p.m., and Woodland travels to Fort Kent for a 1 p.m. tip.
