BANGOR – Ethan Mailman scored 12 fourth quarter points to lead the Central Red Devils to a 49-41 come from behind win over Winslow in a Maine Principals’ Association class B boys basketball quarterfinal win on Friday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center.
Winslow held a 28-23 halftime lead. They held a 33-25 lead midway through the third quarter. That is when Black Raiders leading rebounder Jackson Morneault went to the bench with his fourth foul.
Mailman and the Red Devils took over from that point. They outscored the Black Raiders 23-8 the rest of the way, including a 15-0 run that extended into the fourth quarter. Mailman scored 16 of his 19 points in the second half. He also recorded nine rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.
Caleb Shaw added 17 points, four assists, three rebounds, and three steals. Dylan Gray contributed eight points, eight rebounds, and two blocks. James Doucette some off the bench to score four points. Andrew Speed chipped in with one point, four assists, and three rebounds. Central (16-3) will play in a semifinal game on Wednesday, February 22nd at 2:05 PM.
Morneault led the Black Raiders with 12 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. Spencer Miranda scored nine points (3 three pointers) , Keanu Earl chipped in with seven points, four rebounds, and four assists, Dylan Hutchinson scored six points, Jake Lapierre put in three points, while Hunter Campbell scored two points and had 10 rebounds, while Trevor Gurski chipped in with two foul shots. Winslow finishes their season with a 15-5 record.
