Boys soccer news from around the state
Owen Sweeney of Easton has become the all time leading scorer boys soccer. Sweeney scored the 129th goal of his career this afternoon to break Drew Hayward's record of 128 goals set in 2018.
Sweeney scored the record setting goal early in the first half of the Bears game with Katahdin. Zach Pelletier with the back pass to Sweeney and just as he has done dozens of times in his career let the shot fly from outside the area and he put into the top of the net for the new State record. Sweeney's record is based on a four year career. Sweeney ended with five goals on the afternoon and Easton wins the game 6-2.The six goals he scored as an eighth grader are not included in the State record.
