Allen sisters lead Central past PCHS
East Corinth- Freshman Annie Allen led all scorers with 22 points Monday night, in helping to lead the Central Red Devils past the PCHS Pirates 51-31 in a Class C North girls basketball game played at Central High School.
PCHS got off to a quick 6-2 lead, but a 10-0 run by Central gave the Red Devils an advantage they wouldn't relinquish. Ava Goulette had nine of the Pirates points in the first quarter, as the visitors stayed within striking distance at 14-11. The Red Devils extended their advantage to as many as 10 in the second, as Annie Allen scored eight of her teams 10 points in the period and it was 24-15 at halftime. She would put in four quick baskets in the third quarter, as the Central lead grew to 17. They would lead by as many as 23 in the fourth, pulling away to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Annie's sister Mary Allen filled up the sheet in the Central victory. The junior guard had a double double and came very close to a quintuple double, finishing with 11 assists, 10 blocks, 9 rebounds, 9 steals, to go along with her 9 points. Kaitlyn McCorrison had 6 points and 6 rebounds, while Maddie Frost also put in 6 points. The Red Devils play at Dexter on Tuesday night. Goulette finished with 13 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocks, 2 assists, and 2 steals in the loss for PCHS who falls to 0-3. Reese Starbird added 6 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists, and 2 blocks. The Pirates next game will be Thursday night at home against Greenville. Eastern Maine Sports Media will have live coverage with the pre-game beginning around 6:15 p.m.
