Landry, Richard help Foxcroft stay unbeaten

ORONO- Calvin Landry had four RBI, and Jadon Richard pitched a no-hitter on Monday afternoon in leading the Foxcroft Academy Ponies to a 12-0 five inning (mercy rule) Class C win over the Orono Red Riots to stay unbeaten.

Foxcroft (10-0) got all they needed in the top of the first inning scoring three runs including an RBI single by Hayden Strout. The Ponies took advantage of seven Orono errors on the day, and they also walked eight times. Richard took care of the rest on the mound. The senior right hander didn't allow any runs or hits, while walking three and striking out three in the 5.0 inning effort. Landry had three hits and his four RBI, while Strout and Richard each added two hits. Thomas Day had a hit and one RBI, and also scored four runs. Adam Sherman took the loss on the hill for Orono giving up six runs (five earned) on five hits, with five walks and three strikeouts in 2.0 innings. The Red Riots fall to 4-6. Foxcroft is back in action on Tuesday at Ellsworth, while Orono plays at George Stevens/Deer Isle-Stonington on Wednesday.

Brewer wins 13 inning marathon over Hampden

Kaiden Morin scored from third base on a fielders choice hit by Logan Littlefield in the bottom of the 13th inning on Monday night, lifting the Brewer Witches to a 1-0 win over the Hermon Hawks in a Class A-Class B crossover baseball matchup at Heddericg Field in Brewer.

Both teams had many chances especially in the late innings and into extra innings with runners in scoring position. Brewer was held to one hit, but came through over three hours into the contest to get the win to improve to 5-6 on the season. Grady Vanidestine started on the mound for the Witches going the first 7.0 innings allowing no runs on two hits with five walks and 14 strikeouts. Aiden McCue and Zach Arnold provided solid relief pitching, with Arnold getting the win. Jake Perry had the lone basehit of the night for his team. Max Hopkins and Tommy Meserve had two hits each for Hermon. Danny Fowler started on the hill for the Hawks and carried a perfect game into the sixth inning. The righthander gave up no runs on one hit with two walks and 11 strikeouts in 8.0 innings. Ethan Leclerc took the loss in relief, as Hermon falls to 3-6.

Brewer returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Edward Little, while Hermon will host Nokomis on Friday.
