A strong start on the mound from Grady Vanidestine lifted Brewer to a 4-0 win over MDI in a Class A-Class B baseball crossover matchup at Heddericg Field on Tuesday night.
The senior lefthander pitched a complete game giving up no runs on just two hits with two walks and 14 strikeouts. The Witches gave him all he needed when Anderson Clifford bounced into an RBI fielders choice in the fourth inning. Clifford had two RBI, while Hunter Merrithew and Eli Wall had one each. Cameron Graham and Colin Sullivan had the hits for the Trojans, and Jay Haney took the pitching loss allowing two runs on three hits with one walk and eight strikeouts in 5.0 innings.
Brewer is now 6-8, and will host Hampden Academy on Friday. MDI falls to 8-5, and will also play at home on Friday against Old Town.
