The Hampden Academy Broncos took advantage of 12 walks and scored five times in the fifth inning Friday night at Heddericg Field, pulling away for a 10-2 Class A baseball win over the Brewer Witches.

Hampden never trailed. They jumped in front 2-0 in the top of the first inning helped by two Brewer errors. After trailing twice by two runs, the Witches got within 3-2 in the fourth on a sacrifice bunt by Zach Arnold that scored a run from third base. The Broncos started a rally in the fifth, knocking Arnold out of the game on the mound. Freshman Ayden Barnard came on to pitch, but walked four batters including three with the bases loaded and also hit a batter with the sacks full. Arnold took the loss giving up five runs (three earned) on three hits with five walks and two strikeouts in 4.2 innings. Anderson Clifford, Grady Vanidestine, Logan Littlefield, and Nick Tozier had one hit each as the Witches fell to 6-9. Colin Peckham had three hits and Andrew Cote had two for Hampden Academy. Bodie Bishop, Josh Lorenzo, TJ Llerena, Peckham, and Andrew Cote all had one RBI a piece as the top seeded Broncos improve to 14-1. Bishop also pitched a complete game giving up two runs (none earned) on two hits with no walks and nine strikeouts.

Both teams play their last game of the regular season on Tuesday, as Brewer hosts Bangor and Hampden is at Hermon.
