Ellsworth came back from 7-3 down to grab a 9-8 season opening softball win over Bucksport on Wednesday afternoon. Bucksport scored five runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a four run lead.
The Eagles rallied for four runs in the fifth inning and two more in the top of the sixth inning. The Bucks scored one in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Jayden Sullivan had three hits and three RBI to lead the way for the Eagles. Sophia Lynch had two hits and four runs scored. Camryn Clough had two RBI. Anna Stevens earned the win in the circle. Stevens allowed two earned runs on six hits and six walks, while striking out 10. Ellsworth (1-0) will host Brewer on Tuesday.
Jetta Shook led the Bucks offense with two hits and two runs scored. Ali Hanscom had two RBI. Natalie Simpson took the loss in the circle, allowing four earned runs on 10 hits and four walks, while striking out 10. Bucksport (0-1) will host Orono on Friday.
