Hermon softball has balance attack in win over Lawrence

The Hermon Hawks had seven players with multiple hits in a 14-2 softball win over Lawrence on Friday afternoon at Fairfield. The Hawks broke the game open with six runs in the fifth inning and closed it out with five more in the seventh inning.

Kenzie Gallant, Norra Idano, Sophia Peterson, Molly Simcox, Braelyn Wilcox, Mikelle Verrill, and Ava Dean had two hits each for the Hawks. Verrill had three RBI, while Gallant knocked in two. Gallant, Peterson, Simcox, and Wilcox scored two runs each. Gallant, Simcox, and Verrill each hit a double.

Wilcox started in the circle, and allowed one run on no hits with four walks, while striking out five in four innings. Verrill finished the game off, allowing one unearned run on one hit and two walks, while striking out two in three innings. Hermon (1-0) will play their home opener on Tuesday against Old Town. Lawrence (0-2) will play at Cony on Monday.

Veino powers PVHS softball to win over Woodland

Lauren Veino struck out 17 in a 4-2 win over Woodland in a pitchers duel at Baileyville. Veino allowed two unearned runs on four hits and two walks. Brooke Smith also pitched a gem for the Dragons. Smith allowed four runs (one earned) on seven hits and three walks, while striking out 19.

Ashlyn St. Cyr and Emma Potter powered the Howlers offense. St. Cyr had two hits, one stolen base, and one RBI. Potter reached base three times, stole two bases, and scored two runs. Smith reached base three times with two hits for the Dragons. PVHS (1-0) will play at Stearns on Monday. Woodland (0-1) is scheduled to host Jonesport-Beals on Monday.

Simpson powers Bucksport to softball win over Orono

Natalie Simpson pitched a four hitter, striking out 15 in leading Bucksport to a 6-2 win over Orono on Friday afternoon at Bucksport.

Jayden Tripp led the offense with a double, homer, three RBI, and two runs scored. Simpson had two hits.  Bucksport (1-1) will host Foxcroft on Monday. Jillian Severance hit a two run homer for the Red Riots runs. Severance also struck out 12 in the circle, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits and four walks, while striking out 12. Orono (0-1) will play at Foxcroft on Wednesday.

Dexter softball rolls to win at Searsport

Dexter jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back in a 15-2 win over Searsport in a high school softball game played on Friday afternoon at Searsport.

Sam Lovely led the Tigers offense with two hits, three runs scored, and four RBI. Kallie Stone reached base three times with two hits and four runs scored. Claire Fogler earned the win in the circle. She allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits and one walk, while striking out 10. Dexter (1-0) will play at Stearns on Saturday.

River Seekins and Lily Nadeau had two hits each for the Vikings. Searsport (0-2) will host Bangor Christian on Monday.
