Robert Beatham is Eastern Maine football expert for second straight year

Oak Hill won their third straight class D state championship when they defeated MCI 34-21 at Morse field on the campus of the University of Maine on Friday night.

Thornton Academy repeated as class A state champs when they held off a second half rally from Portland. Winslow used a strong defensive effort to get a 24-10 over Yarmouth, the Black Raiders also claimed the title in 2014. Marshwood finsished state championship Saturday with a 21-14 win over Brunswick in the class B state title game. That was the second straight title for the Hawks.

The football teams were not the only ones repeating. Robert Beatham clinched the title of Eastern Maine football expert for the second straight season when Thornton Academy finished off Portland early Saturday afternoon. Beatham has won three out of the five years. He also won in 2012, while Frank Johnson won in 2011 and Nick Coit in 2013.

Beatham finished 89-26, two games ahead of Toby Nelson. Aaron Jackson went 83-32, while John Kedderis picked 81 correctly. Aaron Howard and Darren Pare tied for fifth place with 80 correct.
