College Hockey Weekend Projections by Chris

January 20, 2017

Finished another strong week at 2-1-1 last weekend. This week Maine and BU renew their rivalry with a home and home series. Meanwhile, I pick a game including the nations top team out of the Big Ten Conference. I also pick another Hockey East game between UNH and Notre Dame.

Last week: 2-1-1 Season record 32-17-7

Last weeks results:

1/12

UConn 6 Maine 3 correct pick

1/13

BU 2 BC 1 incorrect pick

1/14

Maine 4 UConn 0 correct pick

UNH 2 Northeastern 2 tied pick

This weeks games:

Friday, January 20

Maine (8-11-3, 2-7-1 Hockey East) at #3 Boston University (14-5-2, 7-2-2)

Maine squares off with the Terriers in a weekend home and home beginning at Agannis Arena in Boston. We all know Maine is not a good road team at 0-7-3, while BU is 7-1-1 at home. Maine comes off a weekend split with UConn, while the Terriers swept Boston College in a Friday/Monday home and home.

The pick- Cannot pick the Black Bears on the road until they prove they can win one. Don’t see it on this night. BU 5, MAINE 2

#11 Ohio State (11-4-5, 2-2-0 Big Ten) at #1 Penn State (16-2-1, 5-1-0)

This is a rematch of a series playing at Ohio State three weeks ago, where the teams split. Penn St has only played five games on the road all season and has gone 13-1-0 at home. Ohio St came up with a win and a tie last weekend at home with Arizona St in non-conference action. The Nittany Lions swept a home series with Michigan State.

The pick- Penn State is a very strong home team, and a very strong team no matter where they play. Look for them to pound the Buckeyes in a little payback for the loss a few weeks ago. PSU 6, OSU 2

Saturday, January 21

BU at Maine

Night number two as the venue changes to Alfond Arena. Free t-shirt night and white out the Alfond should fill the stands. Maine has beaten some real good teams at home this season including Quinnipiac and UMass-Lowell.

The pick- The Bears compete level will be alot better in the second night as the home crowd and students give them a lift. I am gonna take Maine to pull the upset. MAINE 4, BU 3

UNH (11-8-3, 6-2-2 Hockey East) at #14 Notre Dame (13-8-2, 6-4-1)

The Wildcats finish up a weekend series at South Bend against the Irish. UNH got a win and a tie with Northeastern last weekend, while Notre Dame split with Merrimack on the road.

The pick- I will take the home Irish in this one, in what I believe will be a weekend split. Should be real tight in both games on the weekend. ND 3, UNH 2
