Seth Garvin earns Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 258 past athlete of the week winners. 

This week, we had six Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Seth Garvin had a big game with his arm and bat in leading Stearns to a prelim win over Jonesport-Bears. Garvin joins Sigrid Koizar  (3) (1-22-12), Taylor Pelkey (1-20-13), Jordan Morrow (5-5-13), Raychel Alley (1-4-14), Zack Bouchard (5-2-15), Jessicca Girsa (4-24-16), Cassidy McLeod (6-4-16), and
Katherine Alley- (12-11-16) as student/athletes from Stearns high school that have earned athlete of the week honors.

Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Seth Garvin- allowed one run in four innings with six strikeouts, he also had a triple, three run homer, two stolen bases, and five RBI in 13-8 class D prelim win over Jonesport-Beals.

Runner up

Jacob Bickford- Dexter – baseball- pitched a nine inning complete game with 11 strikeouts and also had the game winning RBI in the ninth in 3-2 quarterfinal win over Fort Kent.

Other nominations

Matt Richards- Dexter – baseball- had three hits in 3-2 nine inning quarterfinal win over Fort Kent.

Stefan Simmons- baseball- pitched a four hitter with 10 strikeouts in 2-0 class C quarterfinal win over Bucksport.

Logan Sheridan- Oceanside- baseball- pitched a four hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks in 2-0 win over Presque Isle in class B prelim game. Had two hits in 6-4 quarterfinal win over Hermon.

Dean Grass- Bangor Christian- baseball- allowed two runs on six hits and one walk, while striking out nine in 6-2 semifinal win over PVHS.
