Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 276 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had two Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Carter Tolmasoff had a historic game in leading Bucksport to a semifinal win over Mattanawcook. He responded five days later with a strong game in a loss to Foxcroft in the state final game. This is the second athlete of the week honor for Tolmasoff. He also claimed AOW on November 6th, 2017.
Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week
Carter Tolmasoff- Bucksport- football- rushed for 363 yards and five touchdowns in 77-36 class D North semifinal win over Mattanawcook. Had 167 yards, including 130 yards rushing and one touchdown in 43-26 regional final loss to Foxcroft.
Runner up
Luke Wardwell- Bucksport- football- rushed for 189 yards and five touchdowns and threw for a touchdown in 77-36 class D semifinal win over Mattanawcook. Had one touchdown in 43-26 regional final loss to Foxcroft.
Other nominations
Matt Spooner- Foxcroft – Football- rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 61 yards in 43-26 class D regional final win over Bucksport.
David Wilson- Nokomis- Football- rushed for 93 yards and one touchdown in 13-6 class C regional final win over Hermon.
Andrew Haining- Nokomis- Football- threw for one touchdown in 13-6 regional final win over Hermon.
