Jeremy Richard earns Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 280 past athlete of the week winners. 

This week, we had 10 Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Jeremy Richard averaged 17 points in three wins, including 31 in a win over Orono. Richard made three free throws to send the game into overtime against the Red Riots. Richard is the 16th Foxcroft Academy student/athlete to earn athlete of the week honors. Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Jeremy Richard- Foxcroft- Basketball- Scored 31 points, including getting fouled on a 3pt buzzer attempt and made all three free throws to send game into OT where the Ponies defeated Orono 72-69. Scored 15 points in 51-49 win over Old Town. Scored 15 points (13 in second half) in 52-42 win over Washington Academy.

Matt Fleming- Bangor- Basketball- scored 37 points in 78-60 win over Cheverus. 

Other nominations

Kaiden Crowley- Jonesport-Beals- Basketball-scored 24 points in 65-56 win over Temple. Scored nine points in win over Machias

Isaac Potter- GHCA- Basketball- scored 24 points in 74-20 win over Ashland. 

Lucas Ames Foxcroft – Basketball Played outstanding second half defense on Orono’s Zack Dill who had 12 points in the first half and was held scoreless in the second half and overtime in Ponies 72-69 win. Had eight points, five rebounds, and three steals in 52-42 win over Washington Academy. 

James Anderson- Mt. Blue- basketball- scored 23 points in 73-72 win over Hampden. 

Tyson Gray- Bucksport- Basketball- scored 25 points in 65-35 win over Stearns. Had 24 points including game winning basket in final seconds of 54-52 win over Central. 

Keegan Gentle- Houlton – Basketball- recorded 24 points, nine rebounds, five steals, and five assists in 59-49 win over Calais. 

Hyatt Smith- Foxcroft- Basketball- had 17 points and eight rebounds in 52-42 win over Washington Academy.

Cecil Gray- Washington Academy- Basketball- recorded 14 points, 20 rebounds, and three blocks in 52-42 loss to Foxcroft.
