Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. If you want to sponsor the female or male athlete of the week email Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. Use that same email to send your nominations in during the week. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 332 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had seven Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Chris Kelley helped Belfast with his arm and his bat as the Lions defeated Oceanside. Kelley joins Emery Dinsmore (5-18-14), Madison Littlefield (11-2-14), Kylie Nelson (2) (10-23-16), Morgan Fernald (2) (2-4-17), and Jason Bartlett (1-24-21) as student/athletes from Belfast high school that have earned athlete of the week honors.
Male athlete of the week April 26th- May 1st
- Chris Kelley- Belfast – baseball- had a double, home run, four RBI, and was the winning pitcher in 6-3 win over Oceanside.

- Anthony Chappone- Brewer- baseball- had two home runs and five RBI in 5-4 win over Oceanside.
Other nominations
- Joe Hamelin-Waterville baseball- had four hits and was the winning pitcher in 4-2 win over Mt. View.
- Brad McLaughlin- Bangor- baseball- pitched a four hitter with five strikeouts in complete game effort in 7-0 win over Hampden.
- Kobe Gilbert- PCHS- tennis- first singles 4-0 this week with wins against Dexter, Deer Isle-Stonington, MCI, and PVHS. Gilbert is 5-0 on the season.
- Adam Sanders- Stearns- baseball- had two hits, including a home run and five RBI in 19-8 win over Schenck
- Connor Chase- PCHS- baseball- had two triples, four RBI, and four runs scored in 21-11 win over Greenville.
