Bryce Gilbert earns second Down East Limousine male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 176 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had three Rowell’s Garage athlete of the week nominations, Bryce Gilbert earned his second Down East Limousine male athlete of the week with a 27 point effort in leading Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) to a key 46-33 win over Penobscot Valley Hgh School. Jackson Mathers from Southern Aroostook and Stan Sturgis from Belfast were also nominated this week.

Down East Limousine male athlete of the week

Bryce Gilbert – PCHS- basketball – scored 27 points in 46-33 win over PVHS. Gilbert also was named athlete of the week on September 5th, 2015. Gilbert joins Alex Speed, Lindsey Morrill, Abby Burdin, Delani Bennett, and Erin Speed as student/athletes from PCHS that have been named athlete of the week. Alex Speed was a four time athlete of the week winner, while Bennett is a two time Roadrunner Taxi female athlete of the week winner.

Jackson Mathers- Southern Aroostook- basketball- scored 23 points, including 5 three pointers in 82-27 win over Katahdin.

Other nominations

Stan Sturgis- Belfast- basketball- scored 18 points, including 4 three pointers in 44-43 overtime win over MCI.
