The Foxcroft Ponies will host the Madison Bulldogs on Friday Night in a contest that will feature teams hoping to be playing deep into November.
The teams played in the same conference for the last four years. They will open the 2017 season as out of conference rivals.
Madison finished 7-1 and as a second seed in the Big Ten conference last season. The Bulldogs will now play in the Campbell conference in class D south.
“We’re coming over from four years in the Big Ten. Great conference with a lot of tradition and competition,”Madison head coach Scott Franzose said. “We’re not expecting the Campbell Conference to be any easier. Oak Hill, Wells, Winthrop, Lisbon….lots of tradition of their own, and some tough football programs.”
Foxcroft returns to the LTC. They played in the conference up until the past four seasons when they played in the Big Ten. Eastern Maine Sports picks the Ponies to win class D North. They will have two difficult out of conference games, including this week against Madison. The Ponies will also play at MCI on October 13th.
“We are excited to be back in the LTC and with the opportunity to play schools we had played for 50+ years leading up to the Fall of 2013, “Foxcroft head coach Danny White said. “I expect tough games week in and week out, I think we have a strong schedule.”
Eastern Maine Sports will have live audio coverage starting at 6:45 on Friday evening.
