Justin Thompson earns second straight Down East Limousine male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 173 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had six Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Justin Thompson had a monster game in leading  the Schenck Wolverines to a victory over Fort Kent. Thompson has now earned four athlete of the week honors, including last week.

Other nominations this week include Barrett Grant from Searsport, Nate DeSisto and Jake Koffman from Orono, Taylor Schildroth from George Stevens, and Chris King from Schenck.

Down East Limousine male athlete of the week

Justin Thompson- Schenck- basketball- recorded 28 points, 22 rebounds, and 10 assists in 61-51 win over Fort Kent. Other student/athletes from Schenck high school to earn athlete of the week honors include Ashley Leavitt, Ryan Jurgiewich, Chantel Lane, and Justin’s older sister Morgan Thompson.

Runner up

Barrett Grant- Searsport- basketball- scored 38 points in 66-58 win over Sumner. Had 13 points in 49-45 loss to Bangor Christian. Had 19 points in 44-35 win over PVHS.

Other  nominations

Nate Desisto- Orono- basketball- scored 21 points in 55-36 win over John Bapst. Recorded 18 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and three steals in 68-56 win over Central. Scored 14 points in 56-36 win over Dexter.

Jake Koffman-Orono- basketball- recorded 16 points, nine rebounds, and two steals in 68-56 win over Central.

Taylor Schildroth- George Stevens- basketball- scored 30 points in 78-58 win over Sumner. Scored 14 points in 62-41 win over Bucksport.Scored 15 points in 69-47 win over Lee.

Chris King- Schenck- basketball- scored 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 61-51 win over Fort Kent.
