Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 173 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had six Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Justin Thompson from Schenck high school earned his third athlete of the week. Thompson averaged 33.5 points and 14 rebounds in two games. Barrett Grant averaged over 20 points and 10 rebounds as Searsport went 2-1. Grant finished a close second to Thompson.

Other nominations this week include Riley MacLeod and Tyler Pye from Bucksport, Nick DePatsy from Medomak Valley, and Tre Grier from MCI.

Down East Limousine male athlete of the week

Justin Thompson – Schenck – basketball-scored 41 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in 77-66 loss to Lee. Recorded 26 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, and five blocks in 68-46 win over Dexter. It is the third athlete of the week honor for Thompson. Other student/athletes from Schenck high school to earn athlete of the week honors include Ashley Leavitt, Ryan Jurgiewich, Chantel Lane, and Justin’s older sister Morgan Thompson.

Runner up

Barrett Grant- Searsport- basketball- recorded 21 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists in 67-33 win over Stearns. Had 16 points and eight rebounds in 44-43 win over Deer Isle-Stonington. Scored 25 points in 56-53 loss to Richmond.

Other nominations

Nick DePatsy- Medomak Valley- basketball- scored 35 points in 56-47 win over Erskine.

Riley MacLeod – Bucksport- basketball- recorded 18 points and 8 rebounds in 60-49 win over Sumner

Tyler Pye – Bucksport- basketball-recorded 16 points and eight assists in 60-49 win over Sumner.

Tre Grier- MCI- basketball- scored 15 points, including.3 three pointers, and 4-4 from the free throw line in 57-52 win over Nokomis.
