Kelsey Shaw is named Roadrunner Taxi female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 176 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had seven Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Kelsey Shaw went over 1000 points in her career. She helped MDI finish the regular season 17-1 and earn the second seed in the upcoming Maine Principals’Assciation class B north tournament. Cassidy Lessner had two big games in helping Highview Christian finish the regular season with a 12-6 record.

Other nominations this week include Megan Peach from Dexter,Camryn Lyons from Mattanawcook, Kelli Kennedy from Narraguagus, and Prue Maxwell from Calais.

Roadrunner Taxi female athlete of the week

Kelsey Shaw- MDI- basketball- scored 22 points, including her 1000 career point in 49-35 win over Ellsworth. Shaw joins Tom Paola (5-24-14),Molly Carroll (6-7-14), and Darcy Kanu (4-25-15) as student athletes from MDI that have been named athlete of the week.

Runner up

Cassidy Lessner- Highview Christian- basketball- recorded 25 points and 11 rebounds in 44-31 win over Greenville. Scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds in 47-29 win over Greater Portland Christian.

Other nominations

Megan Peach- Dexter- basketball- scored 22 points in 52-33 win over Bucksport.

Camryn Lyons- Mattanawcook- basketball- scored 25 points in 45-42 win over Orono.

Kelli Kennedy– Narraguagus- basketball- scored 30 points in 62-53 loss to Calais.

Prue Maxwell- Calais- basketball- scored 23 points (including seven three pointers) in 61-48 win over Woodland. Made two three pointers in 62-53 win over Narraguagus,
