This is not only state championship football weekend, it is also the weekend that will decide the fifth annual Eastern Maine football expert. Robert Beatham has a one game lead over Toby Nelson. Beatham will claim his third title in four years, if Thornton Academy defeats Portland.
If Portland defeats Thornton, it will come down to total points in the University of Maine and University of New Hampshire contest. If it reaches the tie breaker, Beatham would win with total points of 45 or under, Nelson with 46 or over.
Our panel expects the north teams to win all four state games, and UNH to get the victory over Maine. The class D game between MCI and Oak Hill will be played on Friday night at the University of Maine. The other three state games will be played at Fitzpatrick stadium in Portland on Saturday.
