Maine Women open up home conference play

Maine has defeated UMBC 65-55. Full recap will be posted to this site later today. Maine improves to 11-6 overall and 2-0 in America East.

Maine 47 UMBC 35 end of third quarter. Bears are being led by Swan with 11, Koizar and Lauren Bodine both have 9. For UMBC, Garner has 15.

Maine 26 UMBC 20 halftime Maine has trailed by as many as 9 points but a 12-2 run to end the first half  has them up at halftime. Bella Swan leads Maine with 9 points while Koizar has 6. For UMBC, Capree Garner has 11. Neither team shot the ball well in the opening half as Maine shot 32.4% (11-34) and UMBC was 34.8% (8-23). Maine is 3-15 from three point range while UMBC is 1-4. Foul shooting hasn’t been a factor much as Maine was 1-1 and the Retrievers were 3-4.

The University of Maine Women’s basketball team will be opening up their home conference schedule today at the Cross Insurance Center at 12 noon vs University of Maryland of Baltimore-County. The Bears are 10-6 overall and 1-0 in America East after a 62-41 victory at Vermont on Wednesday night. UMBC is 10-5 overall and 1-1 in the conference. They are coming off a home loss to Albany on Wednesday 77-42. Look for end of quarter updates here as well as halftime stats.
