Maine vs Albany men’s basketball updates

Maine has pulled off the upset 81-79 over Albany. Biggest win in recent memory for the Black Bears. Maine improves to 6-11 and 2-2 in America East while Albany falls to 14-5 and 3-1. Full recap will follow later on our Facebook page at Eastern Maine Sports.

 

Maine had a chance to wrap it up but an Albany steal and layup tied it at 79-79. Aaron Calixte got fouled and is at the line for 2 shots with 4.9 seconds left. Calixte makes both. Maine up 81-79 it will be Albany ball with 4.9 seconds left down 2.

Shaun Lawton with a tough layup in traffic puts Maine back up 2 at 79-77. 31 seconds left and Albany ball.

This game could very well could come down to the last very possessions. Maine up 67-66 with 7:45 remaining in regulation. The second half has been the Isaac Van show as he has scored 12 since halftime.

Issac Van has come alive early in second half with 7 pts including an emphatic slam dunk a few moments ago to give Maine a 52-51 lead with 15:55 left in the game.

Albany 48 Maine 43 halftime. Maine is being led now by Kevin Little who has 11 points. Gloger has 8 while Isaac Van and Shaun Lawton each have 7. Albany is being led by Hooley with 19 points and Evan Singletary has 10.  Both teams are red hot from the floor as Maine is shooting 19-31 that’s a 61.3% clip and also 5-11 from three point range. The University of Maine men’s basketball team will be hosting a rare matinee this afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center as conference favorite Albany comes to town. Maine is 5-11 overall and 1-2 in America East action. The Bears beat UMass-Lowell on the road last time out. It was the Black Bears first ever win over the Riverhawks. Albany comes in 14-4 overall and 3-0 in the America East. The Great Danes are on a 7 game winning streak including an 80-75 overtime victory against UNH in their most recent game.
