An undefeated week to go along with a tie last week in my picks brings us up to week 15. This week the Maine Black Bears will be featured in three out of the four as they host the nation’s #1 team on Tuesday night before facing their rivals from Boston for a home and home conference series over the weekend. Also the Providence College Friars and UMass-Lowell will square off in a Hockey East series.

Last week 3-0-1 Season record 35-12-9

Last week’s results:

Friday, January 15th

UCONN 1, Maine 0 correct pick

Boston College 5, Boston University 3 correct pick

Saturday, January 16th

UCONN 1, Maine 1 tied pick

North Dakota 5, Nebraska-Omaha 1 correct pick

This weeks games:

Tuesday, January 19th

#1 Quinnipiac  (19-1-3) at Maine (5-13-5)

The Bobcats come in red hot and have moved up to the nation’s second best team. Quinnipiac had the weekend off but took down Union 5-0 and Harvard 5-4 back on 1/7 and 1/9, respectively. Maine once again had trouble with goal scoring with only 1 goal in 2 games against UCONN in only gaining 1 point out of a possible 4 on the weekend. The two teams did meet earlier in the season as Quinnipiac shut out Maine 4-0.

The pick- This one is too easy in my eyes to pick. Two teams going opposite directions. Quinnipiac 4, Maine 1

Friday, January22nd

#10 Boston University (11-7-4, 5-4-3 Hockey East) at Maine (5-13-5, 2-6-2 Hockey East)

These two rivals meet up for a home and home weekend Hockey East series with the first one being played at the Alfond. BU comes in off a loss at Boston College last Friday night while tying the Eagles at home Saturday night. Maine will limp in with some weak offensive numbers and coming off their Tuesday night loss at home against Quinnipiac.

The pick- No love lost between these two teams as I expect this to be a tough gritty game played by both teams. I will actually go with Maine to pull the upset in the opener of the weekend series. Maine 3, BU 2

Saturday, January 23rd

Maine at Boston University

Night number two moves down 95 South to Agannis Arena in Boston.

The pick- Maine is not a good road team and I expect that trend to continue. BU 4, Maine 2

#3 Providence (15-3-4, 6-1-3 Hockey East) at UMass-Lowell  (14-4-4, 9-2-3 Hockey East)

Another big Hockey East matchup as the Friars and Riverhawks get together. Both teams are playing really well as Providence swept Vermont on the road last weekend and Lowell has won 3 games in a row all in Hockey East over UNH and a home and home over UMass-Amherst last weekend.

The pick- I will give the Riverhawks the slight advantage here playing at home. Should be a fantastic game. Lowell 3, Providence 2 (overtime)
