In the women’s game, in a battle for the top spot in the conference, the Spartans of Castleton came out running and grabbed a quick 9-0 lead. But Husson would get 10 first half points from former Washburn standout Kenzie Worcester to stay in the game and found themselves with a 30-24 deficit at the half. Then the second half happened.

The Eagles would open the second half on a 15-2 run to grab a 7 point lead and went on to outscore Castleton 24-6 in the period to take a 12 point advantage into the last quarter of play. Both Darla Morales and Victoria McIntyre had 9 points in the 3rd to spearhead the Eagles comeback.

The Eagles would lead by as many as 18 in the final period and never let the lead dip below 16. Husson outscored the Spartans 48-22 in the second half to get the 72-52 victory and take their 11th victory overall against 3 defeats and now 9-0 in the NAC.

In the men’s game, for the second time on the night, it was the Castleton State Spartans who ran out quickly.

The Spartans ran up and down the floor with their run and gun style and took control over the first 11:10 and had a 25-12 lead. However, the Eagles would finish the first half on a 19-6 run to tie the game at halftime 31-31.

A Zach Curran jumpshot just 44 seconds into the second half gave the Eagles their first lead of the game and a lead that would never be relinquished. A technical foul on Castleton coach Paul Culpo allowed Mitch Worcester to connect on a pair of technical free throws to make it 58-44 Eagles. Husson went on to score 37 of the first 52 points in the second half to build a 22 point lead and put it on cruise control over the last few minutes to secure the 73-61 victory.
