Winslow girls basketball advance to semifinals

BANGOR- Cierra LeClair scored her only points at the perfect time in helping the Winslow Black Raiders girls basketball team to a 51-44 victory over Ellsworth in a Maine Principals’ Association class B north quarterfinal game.

The Black Raiders held a lead at the end of each quarter. Including 25-19 at halftime.  Ellsworth cut the deficit to 44-41 with just over four minutes remaining. LeClair put in a basket to give the Black Raiders a five point lead.

Winslow (16-3) shot 20-28 from the free throw line, including  8-11 in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.  Heather Kervin led the Black Raiders with 15 points, two assists, and two steals. Paige Trask scored 10 points, including a big three pointer in the fourth quarter. Delaney Wood and Meaghan Bernard added seven points each. LeClair scored all four of her points in the fourth quarter. Sarah Guimond and Weslee Littlefield also had four points each. The Black Raiders scored 17 points in the fourth quarter. Winslow will play in a semifinal game on Wednesday afternoon.

Madison Card led the Ellsworth with a game high 18 points. Kate Whitney added 10 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Katelyn Bagley chipped in with six points, Samantha Mason put in four points, Caitlin Bean added three points, and Callie Hammer chipped in with two points,  Ellsworth finishes the season with a 12-8 record.
